Mission Completed

SWAZILAND TRUCK CHALLENGE

We are in the process of raising funds to provide a heavy-duty truck for our Swaziland mission partner, Pastor LaSalette Duarte.  Ps LaSalette is a “Mother Theresa” of Swaziland who cares for 2000+ at-risk children and orphans and has faithfully done so for almost two decades. These 2000 children are cared for at nine remote locations, called care points, within a 70-mile radius of her home in eastern Swaziland.  Daily, children are given hope through shelter, nutritious meals, education and care.  At most care points, fresh water from deep wells are made available to the children and whole community.

Daily, Ps LaSalette's team of pastors and staff deliver the food, medicine and other supplies over rough terrain. While there, they also spend time mentoring children and getting progress updates.  As you can imagine, feeding 2000 children is a logistical challenge over nine locations. To accomplish this, Ps. LaSalette’s ministry had a dedicated SUV that was unfortunately written off in an accident. Thankfully there were no serious injuries. Currently, the ministry staff are using Ps LaSalette's personal vehicle for all care point deliveries. This vehicle is not suitable for this type of service for long term use.

Each care point also offers community groups and/or a church that provide spiritual outreach to that area.  Several of the pastors, as well as worship team members from Ps. LaSalette’s church, journey to care points on the weekend to provide Bible teaching and worship services.  This truck will also serve as a transport vehicle for these ongoing church outreaches, community and youth ministries.

A heavy-duty truck will serve well in making multiple deliveries of food, supplies and support to the care points located in remote areas and difficult terrain.  These pastors are not only delivering physical supplies, but also a spiritual hope to these communities.

We have obtained pricing options for a new or used truck in the price range of R170,000 - R200,000 or $12,500 - $15,000 USD. Given the fact that these services are essential to the physical and spiritual welfare of these communities, we hope that you are able to partner with us in prayer and resources to obtain this much needed piece of the puzzle to care for the children of Swaziland.
